Allan's quest for the perfect story spanned two years, combing through libraries and bookstores in search of a novel that aligned with his passions. When that search proved fruitless, he took matters into his own hands, igniting a journey of writing that rekindled a youthful thirst for creativity. His home art studio became the hub of this transformation, where casual gatherings with friends, once focused on art, shifted to plot brainstorming. This gave way paintbrushes for whiteboards and mind maps. What began as a social ritual soon became fertile ground for his storytelling.

What drives me:
"Ninety nine percent of books written by authors are never finished. I am going to be the one percent"
Mustang Dawn - Oil on Canvas
Allan sought to combine his military knowledge with science fiction, aiming to maintain a sense of realism within an imagined or hypothetical future. Having served with the 5th/7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment in his twenties, the skills and experiences Allan gained during those years are what he strives to share in his writing. The old saying, “Once a soldier, always a soldier,” has defined much of his life.
"You don’t start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it’s good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it."

- Octavia E. Butler
After his military service, Allan embarked on a twenty-year career as an educator, teaching english, history and geography. His creativity didn’t fully blossom until after his teaching career, when he opened an art studio. There, he shared his creative skills with others while crafting his own works of art. This venture sparked nights of creativity with friends and marked the beginning of his writing journey.
